What To Do On Fremont Street In 2024 (2024)

Fremont Street is hugely important in Las Vegas Culture. It was “The” place to be in Las Vegas long before anyone even knew about the Strip. Today, it’s still drenched in Las Vegas history and is one of the fascinating places to visit in Sin City. We’ve spent more than a little time on Fremont Street and have loved every minute of it.

If you’re headed to Fremont during your next trip to Las Vegas, this is your ultimate guide to experiencing all there is to see and do.

The Fremont Street Experience

There’s no way we could talk about what to do on Fremont Street without making the Fremont Street Experience the first stop on our list.

The Fremont Street Experience is considered a pedestrian mall, but trust us – there’s a lot more here than just some open-air shopping.

The Fremont Street Experience spans about five blocks of west Fremont Street in an area of Las Vegas that’s affectionately called Glitter Gulch. With loads of entertainment and things to do, the Fremont Street Experience has become the epicenter of Downtown Las Vegas.

You can wander and explore this area of Fremont Street at any time of the day or night and not be disappointed. Although the Fremont Street Experience has a few things that families and kids will enjoy, the area does lean heavily toward a more adult vibe once the sun sets.

Some ways to enjoy yourself at the Fremont Street Experience include:

Slotzilla Zip Line

The Slotzilla Zip Line is the world’s largest slot machine, but instead of cashing out on a jackpot, this slot machine offers the chance to soar high and zip line over Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas.

There are actually two different adrenaline-rush experiences at Slotzilla. The first is the zip line that carries you about 850 ft down Fremont Street in a seated position. If that’s not enough of a thrill for you, there’s the Superhero Zoom line that lets you fly superhero-style through the sky and takes you all the way down the Fremont Street Experience canopy.

Tickets for both rides sell out quickly, so it’s best to purchase your tickets in advance rather than plan on scoring some last-minute spots once you get there.

Viva Vision Light Show

The Fremont Street Experience is home to the largest digital display in the world, called the Viva Vision light show. The Viva Vision show takes place on the world’s largest video screen, which covers the main corridor of the pedestrian mall from about ninety feet up in the air. Each show is an incredible spectacle of lights, sounds (including music from Imagine Dragons), and 3D technology that’s not to be missed. Plus, the Viva Vision shows are always completely free for the public to enjoy.

Each Viva Vision show lasts for about six to eight minutes and takes place at the top of the hour every night, starting at 6 PM and continuing through until 2 AN.

One of the major attractions of the Fremont Street Experience is the live music that you can find there. The Fremont Street Experience offers their Downtown Rocks Free Concert Series, with a schedule of chart-topping bands and performers that you’ve likely heard of and maybe even love. Check the schedule of performers and plan for a great night of fun, music, and shaking your booty on Fremont Street.

Street Performers

The Fremont Street Experience is a great place to find interesting and entertaining street performers in Las Vegas. There are only a set number of designated spots for street-performing on Fremont Street, and they’re awarded in two-hour time slots via a lottery system. For you, this means that there’s a constantly rotating selection of street performances to enjoy.

Expect everything from performance art to musicians, role play, creative costumes, and more. Street performers range from innocent to a bit raunchy, so be prepared! Also, if you enjoy them, don’t forget to show your gratitude in the form of a generous tip.

Fremont East District

Not far from the Fremont Street Experience is the lesser talked about but equally fun area of the Fremont East District. Fremont East is an area that spans a total of six blocks. In comparison to the Fremont Street Experience, Fremont East feels a bit more relaxed.

While walking through the district, you’re introduced to a variety of businesses in Downtown Las Vegas. There are bars and lounges, with Commonwealth being a favorite with their more upscale style rooftop bar. There are also lots of yummy eats and lots of shopping, including fun, funky, and eclectic boutiques.

Sightseeing Fun on Fremont Street

So many people think that all the best sightseeing is on the Las Vegas Strip, but we’re here to argue that there’s an equal amount of great sightseeing to be done in Downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street. From artifacts with a bit of history to oddities, curiosities, and more, these are some of the main Fremont Street sightseeing points that you want to add to your list.

Check Out the World’s Largest Gold Nugget In Existence

What To Do On Fremont Street In 2024 (12)

The region of the country in that Las Vegas is located was once a booming epicenter for the gold mining industry in the Southwestern United States. As a tribute to the mining days of the past, you can see the world’s largest gold nugget in existence at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino.

The gold nugget is the second-largest ever found and weighs 61-pounds. The nugget is named the Hand of Faith, and while it was actually discovered in Australia, the city of Las Vegas makes a fitting home for such a majestic natural wonder.

Get Personal with the Blarney Stone at the D Casino & Hotel

What To Do On Fremont Street In 2024 (13)

If you spend any time at the casinos in Las Vegas, it never hurts to have a little extra luck on your side. While there are plenty of good luck artifacts to rub around Sin City, we think that a piece of the real Blarney Stone at the D Casino & Hotel tops the list!

Those looking for a little luck to be on their side can touch the Blarney Stone and hope for the best. Legend has it that anyone who kisses the Blarney Stone is blessed with good luck. Considering this is Las Vegas and all the traffic this piece of the stone sees, we think it’s best to leave it at a little stroke for good luck rather than a kiss. But, hey, you do you!

An Unusual Look at the Berlin Wall

What To Do On Fremont Street In 2024 (14)

Have you ever thought it would be cool to catch a glimpse of a piece of the Berlin Wall? You can see a piece of the actual Berlin Wall in Las Vegas, but if you think you need to head to a museum, you’re wrong. The Berlin Wall can be found in a more unlikely spot in Las Vegas – right behind the men’s urinal at Main Street Station Casino, Brewery, & Hotel.

Snap a Pic with a Million Bucks

What To Do On Fremont Street In 2024 (15)

Have you ever wondered what a million dollars cash would look like? If you happen to stop by Binion’s Gambling Hall on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, you can see what it looks like and take a picture while standing next to it.

Have fun and tell your friends this was what you left the blackjack table with. But, alas, you can’t actually touch the real money because it’s completely enclosed and secured. Still, it makes for a fun Vegas photo op.

Say Hello to Vegas Vic & Vegas Vickie

Who is the most popular couple in Las Vegas? Here’s a hint – it’s not any modern-day celebrity duo. It’s Vegas Vickie and Vegas Vic, which are two vintage neon signs with a long history in Las Vegas.

The western-style neon signs are actually separate fixtures, but you can’t help but wonder if these two have a history together. Admittedly, Vegas Vic is a great deal older than Vegas Vickie, but they both look good for their age. Both signs have been removed from their original locations and restored. You can now find both of them at the Circa Resort on Fremont Street.

Visit Neonopolis

What To Do On Fremont Street In 2024 (18)

Neonopolis is a shopping and entertainment mall on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, and even if you’re not a fan of “malls” or shopping, you’re going to want to let yourself be absorbed in this one. Neonopolis is home to some of Fremont Street’s most fun and unique experiences. From restaurants like no other to fun shops where you can find quirky and one-of-a-kind loot to bring home, Neonopolis has it all.

Some of our favorite stops at Neonopolis include the Toy Shack, which has been featured on the hit show “Pawn Stars.” You’ll find all sorts of antique and nostalgic toys and childhood memorabilia at the Toy Shack. There’s absolutely nothing you need and everything you want.

If you’re hungry, a stop at the Heart Attack Grill or Dick’s Last Resort is a must. If you weigh more than 350lbs, you can eat for free at the Heart Attack Grill. But, even if you don’t weigh that much going in, there’s a chance you might break the scale on the way out with menu items like the Quadruple Bypass Burger, Coronary Dogs, and Butterfat Milkshakes.

If you have a sense of humor and the ability to stir up some sassy comebacks, Dick’s Last Resort at Neonopolis is one of the least stuffy places to grab a bite in Las Vegas. The staff all have smart mouths, and they will tease and play with you, but it’s all in good fun.

Suppose you’re done shopping and eating but are still looking for something else to do. Head over to Axehole for some Viking-style ax throwing or stop by Gene Woods Racing and put the pedal to the metal, or see if there’s any live music happening at Notoriety. You can even get married at Neonopolis. This place really does have it all in Downtown Las Vegas!

Frolic & Play at the Downtown Container Park

The Downtown Container Park is an area where everyone and anyone can enjoy themselves in Downtown Las Vegas. The Container Park is a gathering center that features shopping, playgrounds, and entertainment venues, and it proves that you don’t have to stay on the Las Vegas Strip to have fun.

The buildings of the Container Park are made entirely of shipping containers, hence the name. There are lots of boutique-style shops to explore and a nice collection of Fremont Street restaurants for when you’ve worked up an appetite.

Eating and shopping (two of our favorite things) aside, you’ll often find great entertainment at the Container Park in Downtown Vegas. Check their calendar for the most recent concerts and live entertainment available. Another star of the show is the Container Park playground with a HUGE treehouse and massive 33-ft slide. There’s also a giant praying mantis that shoots balls of fire, but you know, this is just standard fare in Las Vegas.

Watch the Game & Swim at the Same Time at Stadium Swim

What To Do On Fremont Street In 2024 (20)

Can’t decide between watching the game or hanging out at the pool? You can do both in Downtown Las Vegas at the Circa Resort. The Circa offers a massive rooftop pool complex that’s complete with 40-ft tall high-definition televisions. This is the perfect backdrop for their Stadium Swim, where you can reserve a seat, watch the game on a really big screen, enjoy a craft beer, and dip your toes in the water at the same time.

Bet on a Las Vegas Horse Race – Well, Sorta

What To Do On Fremont Street In 2024 (21)

There are many Las Vegas sportsbooks where you can place your money on the next big game or race and sit back with a drink or snacks while you watch the sports action. If you’re at the D Hotel on Fremont St, you can see and bet on a horse race in person. But, there’s one caveat. It’s a 34-year-old mechanical horse racing game called the Sigma Derby. Come place your bets on a cherished piece of Las Vegas history. If a real horse race is your thing, head to one of the many great sports books in Las Vegas.

Take a Walking Tour of Fremont St

If you’re overwhelmed by everything there is to do on Fremont St in Downtown Las Vegas, we totally understand. We say, let someone else take the lead with a walking tour that not only takes you to some of the most historic and popular spots but also includes a knowledgable tour guide that will fill your ear with all sorts of history of old vegas and trivial information.

A company called Las Vegas Walking Tours offers both a day and night tour of Fremont St. Each walking tour covers about a mile of Downtown Vegas and costs around $35 per person. There are other types of Downtown Las Vegas tours for those who are curious about what lies beyond Fremont Street.

If you’re ready to step off of Fremont Street and explore a little of what’s beyond it, there’s so much to do and see, and you don’t even have to wander very far from Fremont Street to get to any of it.

A few of our favorite attractions near Fremont Street include visiting some of the eclectic museums in Downtown Vegas, such as the Mob Museum, the Neon Museum, and Zak Bagans Haunted museum.

The Las Vegas Arts District also isn’t far away, and you can find all sorts of art boutiques, studios, classes, and live performances. Try to make it to the Arts District for their First Friday events, where you can browse and purchase the works of many local artists while enjoying live music and a collection of the best food trucks and food vendors in Sin City.

We also really enjoy the antique shopping in Downtown Las Vegas. There are more than a handful of antique shops, resale shops, and retro boutiques, where you can find all the antiques and retro-ware your heart desires. You can easily spend an entire day just wandering around.

Fremont Street Location

Fremont Street is located in Downtown Las Vegas, and while it’s not right next door to the Strip, it’s not that far away either. From one extreme end to the other, Fremont Street is about 8 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. But in reality, it’s closer to 3 to 5 miles from the central part of Las Vegas Boulevard.

The distance is too far for most to walk, especially when you consider the logistics and traffic. However, there are several ways to get around Las Vegas and back and forth between the Strip and Fremont Street. Buses, trams, ride shares, tours, and even your own vehicle will get you there easily.
