The Gwen Cherry Park Foundation is helping students in a big way!The Foundation has recently awarded laptop scholarships to 25 deserving students who participated in this year's summer camp. According to the Foundation, these scholarships were earned by campers who showcased positive attitudes, took initiative in helping others, actively participated in activities, and maintained excellent attendance. Each laptop includes an Android tablet, a convertible stand, wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and a stylus pen.Congratulations to all the scholarship recipients! On Thursday, September 5th, City of Miami Chairwoman and District Five Commissioner Christine King will be hosting an exclusive interview with Olympic American Sprinter Twanisha “TeeTee” Terry at a LIVE Audience Taping of The King-dom Podcast at the Historic Lyric Theater in Overtown. “TeeTee is an inspiration to all of us, especially young women,” said Chairwoman King in a press release. “Born and raised in Miami where she was on the track & field team at Northwestern High School, we are proud to have been a part of her journey in our city and now the world.” The community is invited to attend this LIVE audience taping on a first come, first served basis. HistoryMiami Museum has unveiled its newest exhibition, SANCTUARY: Our Sacred Place! This captivating photography exhibition by Little Haiti photographer Woosler Delisfort delves into the spiritual origins of Miami’s Indigenous, African, and Caribbean communities by capturing moments of divine connection in temples, churches, and mosques. The more than 100-piece exhibition highlights how our cultures are harnessing sacred spaces in Miami as vital sources of life, both politically and spiritually.The exhibition follows Woosler’s fellowship with HistoryMiami. Presented by the museum's Center for Photography, the fellowship supports emerging documentary photographers who capture and amplify local stories, particularly those related to the BIPOC and Latinx members of the community.
