It is through the use of everyday things such as scraping plates, blenders and close up of mouths and eyes, that Paxton is able to expertly create an uncomfortable and tense watch, lending moments of body horror to an otherwise sterile environment.

Ruth Paxton’s A Banquet works on a couple different levels because of the way Justin Bull’s screenplay depicts a teenager’s apocalyptic visions as either terrifyingly real or potentially the product of a mentally ill mind made all the worse by grief.

The ending made no sense. If someone who wasn't religious watched this they would be mad. I basically watched a movie about a mother watching her teenage daughter starve herself after her husband commits suicide. I get during the movie she said he mom was the "first star" but why'd Bets have to die? Who was the second star? Did the world end and everyone end up in a better place? What happened to the mom at the end what did she see? Where did she go? Wouldn't recommend. 30 minutes of this movie had to be missing. Hopefully part 2 soon.
